What we come out for

Burst or leaking pipe

Usually a failed compression joint or a split flexible tap connector under a sink. We isolate, cut out the failed section and replace it. If the stopcock itself will not close, that gets changed too.

A stain under a first-floor bathroom is normally the bath waste, the shower tray seal or the WC pan connector, not the pipework. We find which, and stop it. The plastering and redecorating afterwards is not our work.

Seized valve or stopcock

A ballofix that has gummed solid means you cannot turn anything off. We isolate further back, replace the valve and check it actually shuts.

Blocked or overflowing WC, basin or shower

Cleared on site where the blockage is in the trap or the branch. If it turns out to be the soil stack or below ground, we tell you rather than charging to guess at it.

Failed tap, cylinder or immersion

Dripping taps that will not shut off, weeping cylinder connections and leaking immersion boss seals.

What we do when we arrive

Stop the water first, then find the fault. You get the price for the repair before we start it. No additional work begins until the problem has been assessed and you have agreed the work and the cost.

Before we get there

Close the internal stopcock — usually under the kitchen sink — and open the cold taps to drain the pipework down. Put a bucket under the drip. If water is anywhere near a light fitting or the consumer unit, switch that circuit off as well.

What we do not do

No gas — boilers included. If you smell gas, leave and call 0800 111 999. No building work, plastering or decorating after a leak.
